Probably Stolen Augs Guide
Read the warning, inspect the visitor and separate a suspicion from a confirmed identification.
Look for a combination of the Mentor's visual and behavioral clues, or use a powered Aug Scanner to check the visitor. Read the completed result for the customer currently at the counter. Threaten (Aug) is a bargaining action, not a diagnostic test, and a wanted criminal is not automatically an Aug.
Understand the encounter before acting
Augs are part of the game's customer-identification system. The official overview warns players to watch for them, while the illustrated player guide documents warnings in morning reports. A warning does not identify which person in the queue is the suspect.
Read the in-game Mentor's note when it becomes available and keep it accessible. Our advice is to slow down on a warning day: check each visitor before advancing the queue, rather than trying to remember a face after the customer has left.

Clues are reasons to inspect, not proof on their own
| Observation | What it supports | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Unusual eyes, an implant or an unnatural expression | Closer comparison with the Mentor's identification note | That every unusual-looking customer is an Aug |
| Odd movement, stillness or inconsistent outfit | Additional suspicion when other clues agree | A universal faction or clothing rule |
| Robotic phrasing or a conspicuous verbal slip | A reason to review that visitor carefully | That ordinary awkward dialogue is sufficient proof |
| Completed Aug Scanner result | A result for the person scanned | The identity of the next customer or an uncompleted scan |

Use the Aug Scanner and read the result
- Have the Aug Scanner available while the visitor is still at the counter. Do not confuse it with the water-testing AquaScan or scavenging tool.
- Check the installed battery. The community scanner reference lists 25 energy for a scan; use the requirement shown by your item if your setup differs.
- Activate the scanner for the current visitor and wait for the completed reading.
- Distinguish AUG DETECTED from No Aug detected. Ready to scan is only the idle state, not a negative finding.
- Use that result for this visitor's decision. After the queue changes, perform a fresh check rather than relying on what the device previously displayed.

Choose the correct response
In the illustrated control walkthrough, holding the shotgun interaction opens aiming; the displayed controls then allow firing or holstering. Follow the prompts in your own control setup. Do not use a customer's frightened response to aiming as confirmation—an Aug can also plead.
Misidentifying an ordinary customer is not a reliable way to earn money or reputation. Avoid copying a screenshot's reward as a fixed payout: it describes one encounter in one run.
| Situation | Action to understand |
|---|---|
| A confirmed Aug | The Mentor's response uses the shotgun under the counter. |
| A person on the wanted list | Call Security is the criminal-reporting route; wanted status alone is not Aug evidence. |
| Only a weak suspicion | Gather more evidence rather than using a threat as a test. |
| Threaten (Aug) in bargaining | This attempts to change the deal; it is not the scanner command. |
When a scan or response seems wrong
- If scanning does not start, check battery charge and that you have the Aug Scanner rather than another scanner.
- If the panel only says it is ready, complete a scan before interpreting it.
- If the visitor has changed, discard the previous result for decision-making and check the new visitor.
- If a guide describes a loss threshold or reward amount, check its difficulty and game build before applying it to your run.
- If you use a mod that changes inspections or visitors, consult its rules before relying on unmodified-game clues.
COUNTER QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
Is the Aug Scanner the same as the Scav Scanner?
No. The Aug Scanner checks a visitor; the Scav Scanner helps with scavenging. AquaScan tests liquid contents, and the Gene Scanner concerns animal traits.
Can Threaten (Aug) confirm my suspicion?
Do not use it as an identification test. It is a bargaining option, and the documented guide reports that it fails against an ordinary customer and harms reputation.
Does a warning tell me which customer is the Aug?
No. Treat the warning as a reason to inspect the day's visitors, not as proof about the next person you see.
